The photographer, who last year garnered much praise with his portraits of the Royal family, is 60 this year. A good time for a Grand overview. The museum zooms in on OLAF's love for the craft and the transition that he was going through from analog working photojournalist to digital image maker and storyteller. In addition, he brings here some twenty pictures of photographers who inspired him. The museum shows the free work of Olaf from the year 2000 until his latest series, including the series he made in Shanghai and his most recent, never-before-shown series Palm Springs. Olaf shows here are photography as plants, in combination with film, sound and sculpture.

Modern art, municipal museum 2019

Modern art is the term commonly used for avant-garde artistic expressions from the beginning of the 20th century to around the 1960s. Important currents in the Modern Age were cubism, futurism, Dadaism and surrealism. Modernism was expressed in both painting and sculpture. A general characteristic of modern art is the urge to experiment and to create a greater distance between the artwork and visible reality, for example due to a far-reaching abstraction or the emphasis on the artwork as an idea. Below you can see a number of examples of modern art in the municipal museum in The Hague.

Artist Banksy, Florance trip 2019

Banksy is an anonymous England-based street artist, vandal, political activist, and film director. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world. Banksy's work grew out of the Bristol underground scene, which involved collaborations between artists and musicians. Banksy says that he was inspired by 3D, a graffiti artist who later became a founding member of the English musical group Massive Attack.

Who is Banksy? The identity of the mysterious British street artist has been a closely guarded secret ever since the snarky stencilist emerged on the scene. Over the years several different people have attempted to “unmask” Banksy, an obsession that seems to have gripped the world.

During the Salone del Mobile, the city is all about design. The first Salone del Mobile was organized in 1961 and was then intended to promote Italian design. But over the years, this exhibition has developed into the world's largest exhibition for interior design. The Salone is also an important event for Dutch designers to put themselves on the international map.

Very interesting for those in the design world, but a little less for the layman. But the best thing about the Salone is that, in addition to the trade fair inside the convention center, there is also a large outdoor festival organized at various places in the city, the Fuori Salone. The Fuori Salone is actually the best and most important event in the world in the field of design. Milan is turning into a real hotspot with great events and aperitifi! Shops close their doors late, all exhibitions and art galleries are open and many buildings that are normally empty are used as exhibition space for the various design designers.
