During the FW 2019, beautiful collections of famous designers were on display again, but many new designers also showed their work. You will certainly hear more from these new designers in the coming times. In the collections of Jaime Wei Huang, Toga and Molly Goddard, functional elements and protective properties were an important characteristic of a new generation of designers who create items of clothing that protect the wearer from the trials of contemporary life while still retaining their playfulness.
Jaime Wei Huang
Show notes in the style of exam cheat sheets, inspired by her student days, preceded Jaime Wei Huang's colorful collection. The predominantly unisex line was playful yet practical, with cozy scarves and large knits adorned with cables and playful, youthful details, worn in layers over checkered shirts and dresses.
Toga
The powerful presentation of Toga’s outerwear was a highlight of a collection called "Slightline, Cutline, Align". Blue overcoats with brooches in the shape of a crescent moon, deconstructed biker jackets and white artificial leather jackets with hems decorated with feathers were paired with varnished rain boots with pointed toe in various colors. Clustered jewelry or beads as earrings or on lapels added tension to utilitarian styles.
Molly goddard
Goddard described her collection of patchwork Argyll knits and army green ball gowns as "dressed for the storm." Heavy knee boots, balaclavas and padded clutch bags provided a protective aspect to accessories where the designer tried to create clothing that offers stability in uncertain times.
